CSCI Recognized for Strong Corporate Stewardship Award

Springfield, Va. — September 8, 2008 -The U.S. Chamber of Commerce Business Civic Leadership Center named CSCI, as a finalist for the Corporate Citizenship Award in the category of Corporate Stewardship, Small/Midsize Business. CSCI, along with four other finalists will be recognized at a dinner held on November 18, 2008 in Washington, D.C.

“There are many strong candidates for the Corporate Stewardship Awards this year,” said BCLC Executive Director Stephen Jordan. “CSCI and all of the other finalists have shown that truly great businesses don’t just focus on the bottom line today. They work for the future benefit of their customers, employees, communities and investors, as well.”

CSCI is a finalist due to a combination of factors that reflect its recent social contributions and economic performance. As CSCI has grown over-the-years, so has the company’s commitment to corporate stewardship. “I am honored that CSCI has been recognized as a finalist for this award,” said Linda LaRoche, CSCI CEO. “This is a tribute to the dedicated CSCI employees who are inspired to not only do well in the workplace but also in the community.” The objectives of CSCI’s community relations program are to make a positive impact on the community, to support organizations in which our employees are involved and to fund projects that support U.S. service members who are stationed overseas. The core of CSCI’s community relations program involves support for the following organizations and initiatives:

  • March of Dimes – In the past ten years CSCI has raised $74,000 for March of Dimes through corporate sponsored fundraising and community events.
  • Santa Sac – Each year CSCI employees coordinate the “Santa Sac” holiday giving program. CSCI employees and leadership donate funds and volunteer to purchase, gift wrap and deliver holiday gifts to families in need.
  • SemperComm Foundation – The SemperComm Foundation is a 501 (c ) ( 3 ) charity founded in 2004 by CSCI employees to supply morale-building communications and entertainment equipment to U.S. service members stationed at remote overseas military bases. As SemperComm’s title partner, CSCI provides all of the administrative support to continue the SemperComm mission.
  • PEARL Women’s Leadership Forum – Founded by CSCI CEO, Linda LaRoche as a venue for professional women to exchange ideas based on the values of Philanthropy, Education, Advancement, Rewards, and Leadership through quarterly events and discussion forums.
