Computer Systems Center Incorporated (CSCI) is committed to serving the community where we work and live, and to our employees who support charitable giving. The objectives of CSCI’s Community Relations programs are to positively impact the community, to support organizations of which our employees are involved, and to fund projects that support U.S. troops who are stationed overseas. Community giving has been, and remains, a top priority for CSCI and because of that we have continually been recognized as a good corporate citizen in the Springfield and northern Virginia areas.

PEARL Logo CSCI CEO, Mrs. Linda LaRoche began developing PEARL: The Women’s Leadership Forum in late 2007 as a means of staying connected to the many esteemed women she’d formed bonds with at industry events over the years. LaRoche gathered with women like herself, who were being recognized for their leadership roles in the business and philanthropy communities and developed PEARL in an effort to help women in the National Capitol area enhance their personal growth and expand their career goals. PEARL’s focus is on the creative exchange of business ideas between emerging and established women business professionals, offering a variety of exciting networking groups, speakers and lectures, workshops and social events throughout the year.

SemperComm Logo A significant component of CSCI‘s Community Relations Program has been, and continues to be, the donation of time and money to the SemperComm Foundation. CSCI started SemperComm as a way to give back to our military men and women and thank them for their dedicated service. The organization has grown significantly since it began, adding an entertainment partner—Stars For Stripes—which works to provide celebrity entertainment to remote sites where troops need the morale boost the most.

SemperComm works to boost the morale of the United States service members who are stationed at remote overseas bases by providing them with communications and entertainment equipment, software and services. The SemperComm package arrives nearly ready to go, and after some minor assembly, the most remote military outposts around the globe can connect with their lives, friends and families at home.

SemperComm works with all branches of the U.S. military. The packages of goods and services it sends is fully paid for by the SemperComm Foundation. Additionally, by using CSCI's secure, compartmented technology, SemperComm provides users with a protected, interactive website to communicate. This site enables the service members to communicate in a private space with loved ones back home and in an open forum with SemperComm sponsors and partners on a daily basis.

March of Dimes Logo The second leading cause of infant death in the United States is preterm birth/low birth weight; each hour 53 babies are born premature. In an effort to decrease this premature birth rate, CSCI participates in the March of Dimes largest fundraising program, WalkAmerica.

WalkAmerica 2006 led CSCI to yet a new level of success: Our energetic and devoted team raised over $14,000 for the March of Dimes! Team CSCI had 38 walkers, 16 of whom were employees.

CSCI also won more awards in 2006, winning Top Team (four years running), a Chairman's Club Award for raising over $14,000 and a Top Wrap-Around Award (two years running) for highest fundraising events. Congratulations again to employees Harmony Schutter and Stefan Schwarz for raising over $1,000 each—Ms. Schutter two years in a row and Mr. Schwarz for the third year in a row!

CSCI played an even bigger part in the overall Springfield, VA, March of Dimes WalkAmerica 2006 program with Robin Sheedy acting as revenue chair, Harmony Schutter as hoopla chair and Janet Kraft as a committee member. In addition, CSCI's Gary Black was the photographer for the second year in a row; Dan Johnson was a part of the set-up committee two years running; and DC Washington sang the National Anthem for the fourth year in a row.
