SPRINGFIELD, Va., October 27, 2008 – Linda LaRoche, CEO of Computer Systems Center Incorporated (CSCI), a Springfield-based technology company, was chosen as a finalist for the 5th Annual StevieŽ Awards Lifetime Achievement category. The Stevie Awards for Women in Business honor women executives, entrepreneurs, and the companies they run – worldwide. The StevieŽ Awards have been hailed as the world’s premier business awards.
LaRoche’s visionary leadership and management style have resulted in significant growth and prosperity for the company she co-founded in 1987. CSCI began as a unique, small technology company with just three employees working with the Department of Defense, to almost 200 today providing IT and systems engineering services to the commercial market and multiple government organizations.
“We are so proud Linda has been named a finalist for this prestigious award,” said Lara Coffee, CSCI Vice President of Marketing and Communications. “It’s a testament to her hard work and long-standing commitment to CSCI employees, her family and the community.” In addition to overcoming the challenges and obstacles of being a woman in a male-dominated industry, LaRoche raised six children, and has twelve grandchildren. LaRoche’s philanthropic values are reflected throughout the company by her support of numerous community organizations and charitable initiatives that include:
- PEARL Women’s Leadership Forum, an organization founded by LaRoche to bring emerging and reputable business women together to exchange ideas and information focused on philanthropy, education, advancement, rewards and leadership.
- The SemperComm Foundation, a nonprofit charity founded by CSCI employees to help provide communications and entertainment equipment to U.S. service members stationed at small, remote overseas military bases.
- “Santa Sac,” a program that provides local disadvantaged families with holiday gifts and necessities
- Over a decade of support to March of Dimes
Stevie Award winners will be announced at their annual gala, Friday, November 14, at the Marriott Marquis hotel in New York.
