Brett Coffee of CSCI Gets Well-Deserved Recognition

Receives 2008 Corporate Counsel Award for Community Service

Springfield, Va., October 30, 2008 – Brett Coffee, General Counsel for Computer Systems Center Incorporated (CSCI) of Springfield, Va., was awarded the 2008 Corporate Counsel Award for Community Service by Washington Metropolitan Area Corporate Counsel Association (WMACCA) at an awards reception in McLean, Va. on October 29. The awards honor the work of the region's leading in-house practitioners over the past year.

The WMACCA community service award is one of several awards and accolades that Coffee has received for his work on a variety of professional and community-based projects. He currently serves as general counsel for CSCI, and for the SemperComm Foundation, a nonprofit military support organization which he helped establish four years ago. Coffee still finds time to volunteer and serve in number of community and professional organizations. “Brett is very deserving of this award,” said Linda LaRoche, CSCI CEO. “His accomplishments here at CSCI and his extensive involvement in the community are a testament to his character, leadership and potential to succeed at any endeavor he pursues.” Some of Coffee’s accomplishments and community leadership activities include:

  • Serving on the board of directors of Leadership Fairfax.
  • Appointed to the Virginia General Assembly Joint Commission on Technology and Science (JCOTS) 2008 Transportation Technologies Advisory Committee.
  • Named to the U.S. Chamber’s Corporate Leadership Advisory Council.
  • Devoted over 570 hours to outside charitable, political and professional activities this year through June 2008.
  • Awarded the Community Champion award by Volunteer Fairfax in 2007.
  • Named as a 2008 Rising Star by Virginia Super Lawyers Magazine recognizing the top 2.5% of legal talent in the state of Virginia.
  • Selected as a “Top Washington Lawyer” Finalist twice by Washington Business Journal.
