CSCI Competes Against Technology and Finance Giants

Selected as a Finalist for 2008 Virginia Chamber of Commerce Torchbearer Awards

Springfield, Va. – October 22, 2008 – Springfield-based defense contractor, Computer Systems Center Incorporated (CSCI), is among four finalists selected for the 2008 Virginia Chamber of Commerce Torchbearer Awards. The annual award recognizes Virginia companies whose business achievements and corporate citizenship have made a lasting impact on the prosperity and quality of life in the Commonwealth. CSCI was named as a finalist in the Northern Virginia region along with Alion Science and Technology, Capital One Financial Corporation and High Performance Technologies, three considerably larger corporations.

CSCI senior leadership and employees have received recognition for philanthropy, corporate citizenship, industry leadership and corporate training programs. Some of CSCI’s contributions include:

  • Raising over $74,000 in the past ten years for the March of Dimes through corporate and community-based fundraising
  • Establishing the “Santa Sac” program to provide local needy families with holiday gifts and necessities
  • Establishing the SemperComm Foundation, a nonprofit charity founded by CSCI employees to help provide communications and entertainment equipment to U.S. service members stationed at remote overseas military bases.
  • Establishing the PEARL Women’s Leadership Forum, an organization founded by CSCI CEO Linda LaRoche to bring emerging and reputable business women together to exchange ideas and information focused on philanthropy, education, advancement, rewards and leadership.
