COMPUTER SYSTEMS CENTER INCORPORATED TO PROVIDE
COMMUNICATIONS LINK BETWEEN MARINES AND THEIR FAMILIES
CSCI launches Interactive Communications Site
at the Jungle Warfare Training Center in Okinawa, Japan
Springfield, VA—November 18, 2004—Computer Systems Center Incorporated (CSCI) a unique and solidly established small technology company that excels in solving complex problems for the private and public sectors, today announced the kick-off of their Interactive Communications Site, www.sempercomm.org—developed to connect troops stationed in remote locations with their loved ones back home.
CSCI adopted the Jungle Warfare Training Center (JWTC), a remote training facility in Okinawa, Japan, as the first of many bases that will receive this unique communication tool. Through this newly created, secure communications site, each JWTC Marine will be able to ‘chat’ with five friends and family members.
“In coordination with the USO, we created SemperComm “Always Communications,” said Linda LaRoche, chief executive officer of CSCI. “This unique program targets remote U.S. military bases that the USO is unable to serve and helps to make deployments more bearable for service members stationed far from home.”
CSCI and the USO will host an informational session and kick-off party November 18, 2004, at CSCI’s headquarters in Springfield, VA. Edward A. Powell, Jr., USO president and chief executive officer, will speak at this event. In addition, the CSCI team will demonstrate how the interactive site will operate. USO personnel from the Pacific region, as well as military personnel and congressional leaders, have been invited to attend and show their support for SemperComm.
“This is an exciting day for the USO,” said Edward A. Powell. “Not only has CSCI developed a program specifically for remote bases, it also has constructed a tool that enables service members to stay in touch with friends and family. The USO is very grateful for CSCI’s partnership.”
SemperComm will continue to evaluate other remote military installations lacking basic communications and entertainment tools, and work to bring these resources to these bases in order to Make It Happen!
