CSCI HOSTS INFORMATION SECURITY SEMINAR FOR
HIGH SCHOOL SCHOLARS FROM ACROSS THE UNITED STATES
Springfield, VA—June 22, 2005—Computer Systems Center Incorporated (CSCI), a highly specialized systems integration and professional services firm, announced today it will host a half-day seminar on the trends in information security technologies for some of the best and brightest high school juniors and seniors from around the nation participating in the Presidential Classroom Science, Technology and Public Policy program.
Presidential Classroom’s Science, Technology and Public Policy program, which runs for a week, focuses specifically on the role of the government in issues related to scientific discoveries and technological advances. As the host of a three-hour learning seminar, CSCI will specifically demonstrate the necessity of computer security within not only the government, but also the home, in order to protect an individual or group’s sensitive or classified information; the students will also actively participate in interactive sessions allowing them to virtually experience the ease of penetration on an unsecured personal computer and how much more difficult it is to penetrate a secured PC.
“CSCI employees are committed to serving their local communities,” said Linda LaRoche, CEO of CSCI. “We are privileged to have been asked by Presidential Classroom to host such a prestigious seminar that not only recognizes exceptional students within the D.C. metropolitan area, but also across the United States. We anticipate the students will gain a better understanding of information security and take that knowledge with them to apply security recommendations to their home computers. It is also our hope that they will educate their peers on the importance of securing our nation’s critical cyber-infrastructures and apply that acumen to the federal government as tomorrow’s leaders.”
Former Congressman Jack Buechner, CEO and President of Presidential Classroom, said “We expose our Presidential Classroom scholars to aspects of technology, science and medicine that weaves in public policy, economics and the real-life experiences of men and women in diverse fields. In one week they will discover more career opportunities and meet more potential mentors than they ever could back home. Several students have written us and said they have changed their career paths based upon what they learned during our science and technology programs.”
