CSCI Hosts Information Security Seminar for High School Scholars
From Across the United States
Springfield, VA—February 23, 2006—Computer Systems Center Incorporated (CSCI), a highly specialized systems integration and professional services firm, announced today that it will host a half-day seminar on the trends in information security technologies for some of the best and brightest high school juniors and seniors from around the nation participating in the Presidential Classroom Science, Technology and Public Policy program on Thursday, March 2, 2006 from 1:00 PM–4:00 PM at CSCI’s Springfield, Virginia headquarters.
The Presidential Classroom’s Science, Technology and Public Policy program, which runs for a week, focuses specifically on the role of the government in issues related to scientific discoveries and technological advances. As the host of a three–hour learning seminar, CSCI will specifically demonstrate the necessity of computer security within the government and how sensitive information is analyzed and disseminated in order to protect an individual or group’s sensitive or classified information, as well as discussing the importance of enterprise management and how it addresses persistent weaknesses in information technology investments.
“This is our second year hosting Presidential Classroom students,” said Linda LaRoche, CEO of CSCI. “CSCI is committed to supporting the local community and we are honored to host such a prestigious seminar that not only recognizes exceptional students within the D.C. metropolitan area, but also across the United States.”
The students will also actively participate in interactive sessions allowing them to virtually experience the ease of penetration on an unsecured personal computer and they will physically learn how much more difficult it is to gain access to a secured PC. CSCI plans to equip the students with the knowledge and a better understanding—hopefully, preparing them for their future—of information security, how the Federal Government maintains the integrity of their data and why enterprise management is a necessity.
“Presidential Classroom is dedicated to challenging the leaders of tomorrow to learn, understand and take action on the formidable problems that face our nation and our world,” said Presidential Classroom Executive Director Elizabeth A. Sherman, Ph.D. “With Washington, D.C. as our classroom, we attract outstanding high school students to a series of discussions with influential leaders and policy makers, site visits to national institutions, exercises and debates on topics of prominent importance, and interaction with teachers, mentors and peers.”
