The Worksite capability was developed by CSCI in 2001 for collaboration between a core and virtual customer environment. A full-time Subject Matter Expert (SME) is assigned database administrator and manages the Worksite with minimal support from the Trusted Solutions Group (TSG) support teams. As of mid-May 05, one CSCI customer’s Worksite had over 618 users from 21 organizations and agencies throughout the DoD. Currently, there are nearly 6,175 documents maintained on this Worksite; occupying 5.5 GB of space. The Worksite was designed to comply with the appropriate security structures to permit use on SIPRNET (although the Worksite is not yet hosted on SIPRNET). The structure also permits segregation of information of For Official Use Only (FOUO) data / documents and could be used to address restricted access by foreign nationals supporting the JSSEO.
CSCI Worksites deliver a centralized environment where an entire organization team collaboratively works to create a project knowledge base by using document approval cycles, supplying team organizational features, and assisting in the capture of correspondence both internally and externally. Information that is important to the team can be placed in the document repository. The repository is excellent for posting deliverables, project policies, schedules, and other valuable project information. To facilitate document creation, the Worksite includes a review cycle that allows for either serial or parallel review cycles. The reviewers are notified via email that a document is ready for their review and the activity of each review is logged for historical reference.
The Worksite provides customers with an effective secure communication and collaborative tool where the entire team works together to create solutions, solve problems and manage projects anywhere in the world, anytime, day or night. By storing all the information in one location, the Worksite acts as a knowledge database for all team members. The Worksite is indexed to provide full-text searching including attachments.
