CSCI seeks a highly skilled Integrated Air and Missile Defense (IAMD) Subject Matter Expert (SME) to support ONR/PMR-51 to lead, manage and coordinate multiple teams for unity of effort in support of a government program that advances Joint interests (requirements, innovation, oversight, and implementation) in pursuit of cohesive IAMD. The IAMD SME is expected to have sufficient JIAMD expertise to represent the equities of program offices, associated industrial teams, the local team and supported oversight groups through regular technical and programmatic discussions.

The IAMD SME plays a key role in ensuring the community is leveraging modeling and simulation tools and analytic processes to support rigorous and relevant studies for the Joint force.

This position is on-site, Monday-Friday. The primary worksite is in Springfield, VA.

Responsibilities

As one of the contributing team members, the IAMD SME primary responsibilities include, but are not limited to:

  • Provide creative leadership to envision the future of JIAMD and the needs of the component platforms.
  • Interface with the service tactics and requirements communities to assist in capturing the needed change to realize enhanced warfighting capability for the nation.
  • Participates in and supports strategic planning to identify and implement near- and far-term objectives as defined by the customers.
  • Manages or has oversight of the management of the subordinate teams to ensure compliance with the annual plan, maintaining the quality of reporting from the completed or in-process tasks.
  • Supervise and conduct evaluation of the studies to ensure technical excellence and integrity of results through the rigorous application of operations research/scientific techniques for all studies.
  • Support analysis sites in their effort to increase the use of machine learning and artificial intelligence more broadly, in appropriate scenarios.

Skills - Minimum of 6 Years Experience

Required Qualifications:

  • US Citizenship is required.
  • BA/BS in Aeronautical, Astronautical, Electrical, Materials, or Systems Engineering; Physics; Operations Research; or Applied Mathematics or equivalent experience.
  • Current Top Secret Clearance with SCI Eligibility and Eligibility for access to Special Access Program (SAP) Information.
  • A high-level understanding of modeling and simulation and a working familiarity with design of experiment and data analysis.
  • Formal training in one or more of a variety of engineering disciplines or operations research and experiential knowledge such as operations analysis of tactical/operational/strategic military operations, acquisition and/or technical planning.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Word, Excel, Outlook, and PowerPoint.
  • Well-developed analytical, diagnostic, and problem-solving skills.
  • Excellent organizational and customer service skills.
  • Proven ability to instruct and mentor less knowledgeable audiences.
  • Ability to creatively approach and solve situations.
  • Must have strong written and verbal communication skills and be willing to actively communicate with co-workers, program leadership, and clients, which may involve delivering presentations.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Prior military service as a tactical aviator (preferred 5th generation) and a staff officer on a Service (USA, USN, USAF, USMC, USCG, USFS), joint, and/or combined staff. Weapons School or Test Pilot School graduate.
  • A thorough understanding of the United States Air Force organization and its air and missile defense concepts and technologies. An understanding of how the Department of Defense (DoD) conducts joint operations and specifically Joint Integrated Air and Missile Defense (JIAMD).
  • Knowledge of Artificial Intelligence and Machine Learning as applied to modeling and simulation.
  • Exposure to space operations – operationally or in planning.
  • Acquisition experience.

Experience Levels:

LEVEL 1 – requires a minimum of 3 years related experience
LEVEL 2 – requires a minimum of 5 years related experience.
LEVEL 3 – requires a minimum of 8 years related experience.
LEVEL 4 – requires a minimum of 10 years related experience.
LEVEL 5 – requires a minimum of 12 years related experience.
LEVEL 6 – requires a minimum of 15 years related experience.
LEVEL 7 – requires a minimum of 20 years related experience.

*This position classifies as a Level 3.

Travel:

Long distance travel required approximately 8-10 trips a year.

Applicants are required to have, at a minimum, a TOP SECRET (TS) clearances with Sensitive Compartmented Information (SCI) eligibility based on a Single Scope Background Investigation (SSBI) completed within the last 5 years.

Compensation

Compensation at CSCI is determined by various factors, including but not limited to, the combination of education, certifications, knowledge, skills, competencies, and experience, internal and external equity, location, clearance level, as well as contract-specific affordability, organizational requirements and applicable employment laws. The projected compensation range for this position is based on full time status. While monetary compensation is important, it’s just one component of CSCI’s total compensation package.

Salary Range

$110,000 – $165,000 /Yr.
